Press-fit monitoring

Force against displacement through the press stroke, checked against an envelope from known-good parts, in one OpenEOL workflow.

A final check alone misses a bad joint

Many press and joining steps only check the final position. In-process monitoring earns its place when:

What the station uses
Press or servo actuator Part and fixture Force sensor Displacement sensor force displacement analog samples stored result Signal conditioning IEPE, charge amplifier or bridge conditioner Data acquisition NI DAQmx or Dewesoft Industrial PC OpenEOL workflow Curve and result Pass or fail to PLC and MES Press and part Station hardware
The press or the joining tool stays in place on the line. Sensors, conditioning, acquisition and an industrial PC turn each stroke into a checked curve against the envelope.
How the test works
  1. Record the curves of known-good parts, and build the envelope from them.
  2. Record the force and the displacement through the full stroke of each press cycle.
  3. Compare the curve with the envelope, and find the seating point.
  4. Store the curve and the result with the serial number of the part.
The open-source software behind it
Your plantReceives the results
MES and quality databaseResults over OPC UA, MQTT or SQL
OpenEOLRuns the workflow
Task engine Open sourceRuns the press or joining cycle step by step
GUI framework Open sourceOperator screens with live data and the result
Reports and database Open sourceOne curve and result stored for each serial number
AnalysisChecks the curve
Filtering Open sourceOpenEOL signal functions remove noise from the force trace before the check
Stroke energy Open sourceOpenEOL signal functions integrate the curve to give the work done in each stroke
Envelope and seating-point checkPass or fail against a window built from known-good parts
DriversTalk to the hardware
OpenEOL IO drivers Open sourceNI DAQmx, Dewesoft or other OpenEOL drivers for the force and displacement sensors
PLC drivers Open sourceSiemens S7 over snap7, Beckhoff ADS or Modbus for the line handshake
Open-source OpenEOL signal functions for filtering and integration run inside the workflow, so your engineers can read and change every step. The program itself is built for each project on top of them.
Other assembly and joining checks

Rivet joint quality inspection

Squeeze force and joint geometry checked against limits, right after the rivet is set.

Leak test integration

A pressure decay or leak test added to the same station, right after assembly.

Component endurance test rig

Cycles counted, with force and displacement logged on every cycle.
